Must campers wear a camp T-shirt every day?
No, we require that campers wear the camp T-shirt on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the trip days. Since all camp staff and campers wear camp shirts, we are instantly recognizable to each other.
How does my camper find a lost item?
Please mark all belongings with your camper's full name. This is very important since individual items are difficult to identify without a label. Lost & Found items are available each day in the office. Please contact us in writing or by phone regarding specific items.
How do I arrange to pick up my camper during the camp day?
If you have to pick up your camper during the day, please notify our office by email or phone ahead of time. Once we are aware of your arrival time, we can arrange to have your camper ready for you in the office. Come to the office door on the side of the building and ring the buzzer.
What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper will be forced to participate in any activity. However, we do urge campers to try all activities and take advantage of the complete program offered at Camp Gan Izzy.
What does my camper need to bring each day?
Main/CIT Campers only need a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, bathing suit, flip-flops/water shoes, a towel, and a change of clothing on Mon, Wed, and Friday. Please apply sunscreen at home and have it in your bag as well. Sunscreen will be reapplied as necessary. Tues and Thursday are trip days: camp t-shirt, closed to shoes and disposable water bottle.
How often does my child drink water at camp each day? The camper's responsibility is to bring a bottle labeled with their name, each day filled with water. They will be encouraged to drink every hour. Bottles will be refilled as needed throughout the day.
How can I speak with my child's counselor?
A call to the camp office, 770-565-4412 will answer most questions. Since counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, messages will be taken at the camp office. Please leave your name and evening phone number and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible. Counselors do not have cell phones during the day. They use walkie-talkies to communicate with each other and the office.
How can I speak with a Camp Director?
The directors are available to answer your questions and discuss your concerns, during the day at the Camp Office. Please feel free to call, 770-565-4412 during these times or leave a message at the camp office during the camp day.
Are we obligated to give a tip or gift to our child's counselor?
There is no requirement or obligation, but tips or gifts are appreciated by the staff. If you wish to do so, here is a general guideline: $5-$10/week for a junior counselor and $10-$20/week for a counselor. We will provide the names of counselors at the end of the week.
